Parks of London, EnglandLondon ParksListed at 10 (up from 44) St James Park
This is a great park. You can almost imagine the Queen taking her corgis for a walk, stopping to scoop up the dog poo into a plastic bag..well maybe not but it is close enough to Buckingham Palace to see the Palace Guards march down the Mall in order to get changed. Take your lunch with you and share it with the over fed ducks and grey squirrels. Spring is best for ducklings, flowers, Cherry Trees and vibe of natures the eternal cycle churning the heart of one the oldest and largest cities in the world. St James has a Cafe and snacks at tourist prices and St James Tube station. Listed at 12 (previously unlisted) Regents ParkLondon's parks are all 'good' and you should at least visit one. Regent Park stands out as it contains London Zoo and outdoor plays in summer but don't overlook the well maintained and lovely gardens, pretty lakes, open fields and imposing trees unless you have a drink in hand in one of the nearby cafes. Listed at 13 (down from 3) Greenwich and Greenwich ParkAstride the Prime Meridian and feel the passage of time between your legs. The Royal Observatory is an often crowded, small museum on top of a steep hill. Its the opportunity to venture down south in London town but not enough to get you into dire striates. Personally I love Greenwich Park with its squirrels and skyline views. Its has a nice feel to the place. So if you have the time, spend some time, even study the time but most of all, have a good time in Greenwich. Down hill there is the sad burnt out Cutty Sark, National Maritime Museum and Naval Academy. Good place to meet an sailor. Greenwich Park. Great walking, great views, squirrels and a nice café to sit outside and enjoy it all. Home In London Top 100 England |
