Top Things To Do In London England - 11 to 1511 (45) National Portrait GalleryHistory and art combine as the National Portrait Gallery pays homage to the millions of hours spent painting ex Kings and Queens usually in a flattering 'light'. Keeping ones head appears to have been a very effective incentive. Top of the Gallery has the most dead so you can go back then move forward in time until you find the mirror in the bathroom. Seek out for the small but unique portrait of Jane Austin. National Portrait Gallery12 Regents ParkLondon's parks are all 'good' and you should at least visit one. Regent Park is a hard working park containing London Zoo and outdoor plays in summer. Don't forget Regent Park's more relaxed side with its well maintained and lovely gardens, pretty lakes, open fields and magnificent trees. Enjoy a drink or a bite to eat in one of the pleasant cafes close by. Very civilised. Regents Park13 (3) Greenwich and Greenwich ParkAstride the Prime Meridian and feel the passage of time between your legs. The often crowded Royal Observatory is a small museum on top of a steep hill. It's the opportunity to venture down south in London town but not enough to get you into Dire Straits. Greenwich Park14 (9) London WalksMuch of London's history is 'doable' on foot. London still has narrow streets, lanes, cobbles, and old gas lights. This is all best experienced on foot. Just be aware of phrases like 'wind-chill' and 'bloody-cold' and dress accordingly. Jack the Ripper is a favourite walk for horror history fans. Not for the young or faint hearted. Other tours include Ghosts, Pubs, Shakespeare and if you are lucky, all three. It is rumoured that they may even be a Da Vinci code tour. London on Foot15 (7) Westminster AbbeyFor many, this was the place to be seen, dead of course. Where as most of us keep our skeletons in the cupboard, Westminster Abbey keeps its bodies buried under the floor. The impressive list of dead people is only matched by the architecture. Westminster Abbey just oozes of the royal dead. Go out back behind the Abbey to the courtyard and take in the views. You can sit on benches or lie in the grass and relax for a while. You will not be disappointed be this amazing place. More Westminster AbbeyTop 20 Things To Do In London England |
