Football World Cup 2010 in London

Where to watch the 2010 world cup in London?

Fifa has signed an agreement with Sony to film up to 25 games from the finals in South Africa in 3D. Fans will be able to watch the games on special public screens in seven cities around the world, including London, using special glasses. However, fans will not get to see their favourite World Cup team in 3D unless the players reach the group winners' matches.

For neutrals by the way or visitors from oversea fear not, just about every television in every pub in the land will have the world cup on it. We invented this beautiful game - just a shame we forgot somewhere how to play it.

When?

Starts Friday, 11 June

First Games

16:00 Group A South Africa vs Mexico | 20:30 Uruguay vs France. England play the following day. South Africa time is 2 hours ahead of us.
Matches are scheduled to take place at 12.30pm, 3pm and 7.30pm (English time).

Watch the World Cup in Sports Bars in Central London, some on a large screen

The Sports Cafe in London in the Haymarket is the bar of choice for many English fans. You can either book a World Cup package, or reserve an area. It’s worth reserving as it’s bound to be absolutely packed. After the football there will be a DJ spinning tunes until 3am. Similarly, you could also watch the games at the Sports Bar and Grill chain located at Marylebone or Victoria stations. Other venues include Old Billingsgate Market 1 Old Billingsgate walk, 16 Lower Thames Street London EC3R 6EA, Plaisterers’ Hall One London Wall London EC2Y 5JU and Salters' Hall 4 Fore Street London EC2Y 5DE.

Watch England's Matches in 3D at the cinema

Cinema chain Cineworld intends to screen the England football team’s World Cup progress in 3D. Chief executive Stephen Wiener said talks were in progress about the chain showing games from the group stage through, if necessary, to the final. He said: “We’ve done it with rugby and the crowds just go wild in the theatres.”

Watch the World Cup in Sports Bars in London on a not so large screen
